UK Gambling Commission sets to clamp down illegal poker

Anti- Online Poker and Internet Gambling Bill Passes US House

Study: Internet Poker Could Net US Billions

Internet poker could bring the U.S. government some $3.3 billion in taxes annually, according to a study to be released on Tuesday, ahead of an expected debate over legislation to ban online gambling. Income taxes on winnings from Internet poker alone — which is estimated to have attracted $60 billion in wagers worldwide in 2005 — could amount to $2.5 billion each year, according to the study commissioned by the Poker Players Alliance.

Atlantic City Players Turned to Online Poker

Poker players in New Jersey turned to online poker while lawmakers debate on a new budget that plunged the state into a crisis and shutdown casinos in Atlantic City sending 80,000 people out of work. On Thursday, however,  governor  Jon Corzine and NJ state legislators finally reached a deal on a new state budget ending nearly a week of financial crisis.

Hachem Runner-Up In WSOP No Limit Hold’em Event

2005 World Series of Poker champion, Joe Hachem, is in the money again after winning $345,000 in a WSOP No-Limit Texas Hold’em tournament currently running at the Rio All-Suite in Las Vegas. The former Melbourne chiropractor, who won $7.5 million playing poker almost a year ago, yesterday outlasted 822 poker players to finish runner-up in the event.

Pacific Poker’s 50% Bonus For MAC Users

Pacific Poker has good news for Mac online poker users. The site has increased the initial sign up bonus for Mac users who deposit in July to 50% up to $100 on the online poker room. The site is one of the only Mac user websites to offer upfront cash bonuses, with people taking advantage of the free money in July before the rate returns to 25% in August.
