Record Turnout At 2007 L.A. Poker Classic Championship

Poker Classic Championship (LAPC) event at Commerce Casino smashed records for largest field and largest prize money ever for a $10,000-buy-in World Poker Tour (WPT) event and for a WPT event in the continental U.S. The 790 field of established pros and aspiring amateurs swelled the prize money to a whopping $7,593.600.

Online Poker Site, Paradise Poker, Closes

Sportingbet has announced on Friday that it will close its Paradise Poker online poker platform, incurring a write-off cost of 55 million pounds (USD$107million or 82.43 million Euros), and transfer Paradise players to its existing Sportingbet poker platform which runs off Sweden’s Boss Media platform.

Johnny Chan To Build Poker Hotels

Poker legend and all-time great, Johnny Chan, is partnering with Las Vegas hotelier, Liko Smith, to create 5th Street, “The World’s First Poker Hotel.” The first location will open in 2007. Asian Poker Classic Guarantees Over $1 Million Prize Pool

Asia’s richest poker tournament, the Asian Poker Classic (APC), have guaranteed a minimum top-up of $250,000 to the prize pool, meaning more than $1 million could be available at the first professional poker tournament ever staged in India. The Asian Poker Classic, is set to be one of the biggest events on the poker calendar. A host of top pros, celebrities, and online qualifiers are expected to turn out for the festival of poker which is being held at the five-star Intercontinental Grand Resort in Goa, India from March 1 until March 5.
