NBC Airs National Heads-Up Poker Championship

The 3rd National Heads-Up Poker Championship will start airing on NBC in April. The poker tournament, which was filmed at the Caesars Palace Poker Room March 2-4, will air on seven consecutive Sundays in April and May, starting on April 8th. For the third straight year, a field of 64 of the world’s best poker players competing in a series of heads-up (one-on-one games of Texas Hold’em) matches to determine who is the best face-to-face poker player in the world.

Harrahs and Bluff Media Announce Digital Publishing Alliance for WSOP

WSOP 2007 Expecting 1,000 Entrants

Bill Attempts To Legalize Poker in Texas

Texas State Rep. Jose Menendez from San Antonio has introduced a bill that would regulate poker here. If passed, up to four poker tables would be allowed in certain bars or establishments. “This legislation could raise over a billion dollars over the next biennium for state coffers while bringing the game out of legal limbo and into the light,” said Mike Lavigne, treasurer of the Texas Poker PAC.

Poker Amateur Beats Pros and Celebs at WPT Invitational

Amateur poker player Adam Weinraub experienced the true meaning of “the gift that keeps on giving” yesterday as he won the 5th Annual World Poker Tour (WPT) Invitational, an invitation-only event and the most glamorous stop of the poker circuit. Weinraub–who won his Invitational seat by bidding last year in a silent auction to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation–outplayed a field of 385 celebrities and poker pros to take home the $100,000 first place prize and a $25,000 free seat in the WPT World Championship.
