The 2007 European Poker Awards

The biggest names in European poker are in Paris tonight for the annual event which gives recognition to outstanding performers in five categories.

The event coincides with the European Finals of Poker (EFOP) held at the Aviation Club de France in Paris. There’s at least one Brit nominated in each category, as Julian Thew, Ram Vaswani, Jen Mason, Madeleine Harper, and last year’s player of the year Roland de Wolfe have all been recognised for their efforts in 2007.

Pro player 19-year old Norwegian poker phenomenon Annette Obrestad has been nominated in three different categories. Annette was the first person to win the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event. The win also made her the youngest bracelet winner to date at the age of 19. She followed that up with a second-place finish in a European Poker Tour event as well this year.

Alex Kravchenko, Russia

Annette Obrestad, Norway

Carlos Mortenson, Spain

Get a chance to travel the world with a PokerStars Passport

PokerStars online poker players will have the chance to win the PokerStars Passport starting on December 1 2007. The winner on the PokerStars Passport gets entries to ten big live poker tournaments. What is a PokerStars Passport?

Poker players to win the PokerStars Passport will start their world travels at the EPT German Open in Dortmund in January 2008 and ending the tour at the 2009 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.

In between the world tour, the winning player of the PokerStars Passport can choose any eight big tournaments on the European Poker Tour or Asia Pacific Tour. And best of all, the PokerStars Passport winner can also choose the World Series Main Event as one of the eight stops aroung the world.
