The 2009 World Series of Poker is at full swing and new bracelet winners are popping up left and right. Bahador Ahmadi is one of the new kids on the block who will be sporting a Gold bracelet, thanks to his win at Event #47, the $2,500 Mixed Hold’em.

Zachary Humphrey was the first to exit the final table after his stack was crippled earlier in the day. He shoved what was left of his stack with Kc-7c and was called by Randy Haddox who was holding 10h-8h. Haddox made a straight after the board ran Qd-Kh-Js-7h-Ac. Humphrey goes home with $27,199.

Hasan Habib fell next courtesy of Barry Greenstein. During Limit Hold’em. Habib re-raised Greenstein pre-flop and was called. Greenstein bet out on the 3c-Jd-8c flop and Habib was forced to go all-in. Greenstein had top pair with Jh-9h while Habib had Ace-High with Ac-10d. The turn and river did not help Habib and he was left with $30,641 for eighth place.

Haddox left the table next after he went all-in pre-flop with A-K. Barry Greenstein called with K-J but got lucky when he hit a Jack on the turn. Haddox settled for seventh place and $36,084. Matt Woodward exited on the very next hand when he shoved pre-flop with Ah-10h. Unfortunately for Woodward, Bahador Ahmadi was holding Pocket Aces. The board was no help to Woodward and he was left in sixth place with $44,520.

Greenstein was enjoying a rollercoaster game but that was soon put to an end. After losing a big chunk of his stack to Ylon Schwartz, Greenstein decided to gamble his stack holding 8h-6c on a Kd-2h-2s flop. Schwartz called with Pocket Queens. The 10c at the turn and 9c of the river didn’t matter and Greenstein was out in fifth place with $57,671.

Karlo Lopez entered the final table as chip leader but his luck has ended as he was sent to the rail next. He lost to Schwartz who was holding Pocket Sixes for a set, leaving him with $78,628 for fourth place. This put Schwartz in the lead right before dinner break. Eventual winner Ahmadi was the short stack at this point.

Ahmadi, however, bounced back after the short break as he started winning pots. After a mere half an hour, Ahmadi was holding chip lead. Ahmadi continued his run and he eliminated his remaining opponents in quick succession. Schwartz exited in third place for $112,967 when he shoved All-In pre-flop after Ahmadi raised to 105,000. Ahmadi called with As-2s versus Schwartz’s Qd-10s. The board ran 8c-3h-5s-Kd-Kc and Ahmadi won the pot.

Heads up play went very quickly. All chips were in the middle of the table with a Ad-2d-7s flop. Ahmadi had a flush draw with Jd-3d while John McGuinness was ahead with Pocket Tens. But Ahmadi hit a flush when a Kd fell on the turn and McGuinness will not improve with the 4c river. For his runner-up finish, McGuinness won $172,227.

Bahador Ahmadi goes home with his very first gold bracelet and a whopping $278,804. By the way, Ahmadi is not a stranger to the WSOP. He finished in fourth place at Event #13, $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em earlier this month where he won $139,934. Needless to say, Ahmadi has been finding the WSOP profitable

Sporting a huge chip lead at the final table, it was Marc “Needle King” Naalden’s event to lose. True enough, he conquered the final table with ease and as a result of his masterful performance, he brings home his very first WSOP gold bracelet courtesy of Event #38, the $2,000 Limit Hold’em event at the 2009 World Series of Poker.

Naalden started the day with 755,000 in chips. Almost immediately, as soon as the day started at 10,000/20,000 blinds, Naalden won pots versus Steve Cowley and Tommy Hang to increase his stack even more. But it was Rep Porter who left the game first after he ran into Jameson Painter’s Pocket Aces. Porter won $19,594 for ninth place.

Unfortunately for Painter, his end was also near. Alex Keating got lucky to river a full house to cripple Painter’s stack. Then he was eliminated by Naalden. Painter re-raised after Naalden raised under the gun and was called. Naalden check-raised Painter all-in after the 6h-7s-10c flop. Painter called with Kh-Qh while Naalden had top pair with 10d-8h. An Ac hit the turn and a 9h hit the river, giving Naalden a straight and sending Painter home with $21,819 for eighth place.

Jared O’ Dell’s Ad-10d was simply no match to Tommy Hang’s Ah-Qd. Hang hit two pair at the flop and O’Dell hit the rail with $25,439 for seventh place. Danny Qutami exited next when his Ad-10c was outflopped by Naalden’s Ks-Jd. Naalden then sent Alex Keating home in fifth place for $39,977 when he won a coinflip with his pocket fives versus Keating’s Ac-Kd.

Tommy Hang was sent home in fourth place with $54,182 when his As-5h lost over Naalden’s Pocket Tens. Naalden continued to run over the table when his 6c-3c made a flush to take out Ian Johns who had to settle for third place and a very respectable sum of $77,576.

Despite Naalden’s insurmountable lead (Naalden was holding 2,300,000 in chips versus Steve Cowley’s 325,000), Cowley made a valiant stand as he did close the gap to just 400,000. But Naalden rebounded and soon increased his chip lead once more. On the last hand, Naalden raised and Cowley shoved all-in with Ad-5d. Naalden had Qc-8s but the board gave him the win as it ran out Qs-9h-10h-4d-10s. Cowley earned $117,902 for his 2nd place finish while Naalden took home $190,770.

Rolande de Wolfe has made poker history. Thanks to his win at Event #27 of the 2009 WSOP $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi/Lo tournament, he grabbed his very first WSOP bracelet and has become one of only two players to win what is dubbed the “Triple Crown.” Along with Gavin Griffin, de Wolfe now holds the distinction of winning EPT, WSOP and WPT titles.

Scott Clements was chip lead entering the final table and he used this to his advantage by busting Antony Lellouche in ninth place. For his final table early exit, Lellouche won $29,965. Armando Ruiz was eliminated in eighth place for $32,105—a respectable finish for Ruiz who picked up his first cash in a major tournament.

In a confrontation between John Racener and Robert Campbell culminated in Racener’s elimination in seventh place. No tears for Racener as it has proven to be a great WSOP poker year as this is his third cash for the series. Andy Black was busted in sixth place for $42,993 after he raised preflop and was put all in by Robert Campbell. Black had Ad-Ah-4d-3h while Campbell had As-Ac-5s-4h. Campbell got a flush draw with the Qs-&s-9d flop and completed his flush after a 7c hit the turn and a 6s fell on the river.

Alex Kravchenko ran into Scott Clements and was forced to settle for $53,881 for his fifth place finish. Kravencho had 8s-7s-5c-4c versus Clements’ As-9s-7h-5h. The board ran Js-10c-5d-Kd-6c board and Clements scooped up the pot.

Despite entering the final table with the shortest stack, Robert Campbell outlasted opponents to finish in fourth place for $72,121. He was eliminated by Roland de Wolfe who hit a seven-high straight. Scott Clements was then ousted by de Wolfe in third place for $101,063.

With a 4-to-1 chip lead versus Brett Richey, it didn’t take long for de Wolfe to take the tournament. On the last hand, Richey bet after the 10c-8c-4d flop. He was checked-raised by de Wolfe and Richey went all-in. De Wolfe called with two pair holding Ad-Qc-8d-4h. Richey had a wrap straight draw and top pair with Qd-Js-10h-9h. Unfortunately for Richey, the 2s on the turn and Ah on the river didn’t help and he finished in second place with $152,618. De Wolfe won his first WSOP bracelet and a whopping $246,616 for first place.

Once again, Phil Ivey has proven that he is one of the best poker players in the world today. On Event #25 of the 2009 World Series of Poker, the $2,500 Omaha/Seven-Card Stud Hi/Lo, Phil Ivey beat back strong competition defying the odds as he came back from being one of the short stacks. For his feat, Ivey won $220,538 and a Sseventh bracelet.

Jon Turner was in the lead with 607,000 in chips entering the final table. Close behind was Carlos Mortensen with 482,000 and Ming Lee with 466,000 in chips. Phil Ivey had the second lowest stack with 217,000 in chips while Tom Koral brought up the rear with 155,000.

It was Peter Gelencser who was eliminated first when Dutch Boyd raised pre-flop in Omaha hi/lo. Gelencser called and the flop was 9d-2d-2c. Gelencer pushed all-in after a raise from Boyd and was called. Boyd had two pair and a flush draw with Qs-Qd-Jd-7c. Gelencser was holding Ad-7d-5d-6h for a backdoor low draw and a better flush. The 3c and 9c on the turn and river gave Boyd a better two pair and Gelencser went home with $23,600. After a while, Phil Ivey erupted to life and in three pots was able to wrest chip lead. Soon, his measly stack of around 200,000 chips turned into 560,000.

Tom Koral was the next player to fall courtesy of Carlos Mortensen when the latter hit a third-nut flush. Koral only had two pair and he ended up in seventh place for $27,993. A few hands later, it was Eric Buchman All-In during Stud Hi/Lo. He lost to Dutch Boyd and Buchman settled for sixth place and $34,747. Meanwhile, Phil Ivey had taken a commanding chip lead as his chips has gone over the million mark.

Jon Turner’s luck had thoroughly dissipated as he could only muster up a fifth place finish after entering the final table as chip leader. He was eliminated by Dutch Boyd while holding two pair. Boyd hit a flush on the river and Turner had to settle for $45,237. Boyd was then hurt by Phil Ivey and was eliminated by Carlos Mortensen during a Stud Hi/Lo round when Boyd moved in with Split Jacks versus Mortensen’s Split Tens. Mortensen improved to a full house and Boyd ended up with $61,919 for fourth place.

Mortensen ended up in third place when he fell short against Ming Lee. Mortensen pushed all-in holding Ad-3c-6d-10c versus Lee’s Ac-Ks-4d-Kd. The board ran Qh-4h-8d-Kc-4c to give Lee a Full House. Mortensen enjoyed a hefty $89,342 for his good run.

Ivey had 1,785,000 in chips versus Lee’s 1,035,000 coming into heads up play. After battling back and forth, their chips stacks became nearly even. Unfortunately for Lee, he lost a key hand to Ivey when ran into Ivey’s King-High Flush. Ivey then crippled Lee during an Omaha Hi/Lo Hand when the former got a Full-House leaving Lee with only 150,000 in chips.

In the final hand, Lee was forced to shove his chips with Jh-6c-7d. Ivey called with Qh-Qs-3c. Ivey ended up with set of queens by the river versus Lee’s Pair of Jacks. His win has tied Ivey with Billy Baxter for fourth all-time bracelet wins.

Patrik Antonius and Tom “durrr” Dwan met online for 786 hands of fast-paced $200/400 pot-limit Omaha action. After two and a half hours, Dwan has almost erased Antonius’ $400,000 lead in the “durrr Challenge” by picking up $376,000. After 16,124 hands of the required 50k, Antonius now only holds a slim $34,594 lead.

Dwan was running hot through-out the session, taking home five of the six pots that were worth over $100,000. On the first big pot, Dwan opened to $1,200 and was re-raised to $3,600. Dwan called to see the Qs-8d-6s flop. Antonius checked and Dwan bet $4,800. Antonius check-raised to $21,600 and Dwan called. After the Jc on the turn, Antonius bet $50,400 and Dwan called showing a Queen-High Straight with 10s-10c-9h-5s. Antonius had As-Kc-8s-5c for a pair of eights and the nut flush draw. An 8c fell on the river giving Dwan the win and $134,394.

On another big pot, Antonius bet out $1,200 and Dwan countered with a $3,600 raised which the former called. After the Js-7d-4h flop, Dwan check-raised to $25,200 after Antonius fired out $6,000. Antonius called to see the 8c on the turn. Dwan checked and Antonius shoved his chips in the middle. Antonius had a set of eights with 10c-8s-8h-5h. Dwan had an open-ended straight draw, flush draw and overpair with Jc-Jh-10d-9h. A Qs on the river gave Dwan a Queen-High straight and $159,992.

Dwan also took down the last major pot of the match when Antonius led off with $1,200. Dwan raised to $3,600 and was re-raised by Antonius to $10,800. Dwan called to see the Ad-Jd-2s flop. Antonius bet $16,400 after Dwan checked and Dwan raised to $70,800. Antonius called and the 6d fell on the turn. Dwan set Antonius All-In with $33,195 and was called. Antonius had a flush with Qc-10d-6c-3d while Dwan needed the board to pair as he was holding Jc-Jh-10h-9d for a set. A 2d fell on the river giving Dwan his much needed full house and $229,590.

For his feat, Ivey won $220,538 and a S\seventh bracelet.

After two days of strong poker and a competitive final table, it was Lisa Hamilton, a cash game player, who emerged victorious grabbing the coveted gold bracelet and $195,390 in cold cash.

It took less than four hours to tournament to end after the final table of nine females commenced. Lisa Santy was the first to be eliminated courtesy of Kim Rios. Santy moved all-in for 171,000 after Hamilton raised to 40,000. Kim Rios also moved in from the Small Blind and Hamilton folded.Santy showed Ah-Qh which was well behind Rios’ Pocket Aces. The board ran Qs-Js-9s-5s-8h and Santy went home with $15,973.

Dawn Thomas was the next to leave when she pushed all-in pre-flop after a raise by Lori Bender. Bender called with Pocket Kings versus Thomas’ Pocket Tens. The board didn’t help Thomas and she warned $18,742 for eighth place. The next one to leave was Lisa Parsons who raised to 116,000 after Rios bet 40,000. Rios called to see the 3c-9h-7h flop. Parsons check-raised Rios’ all-in and was called. Parsons was ahead with a set holding 3s-3d while Rios only had top pair with Jc-9c. The turn was 7h giving Parsons a full house and Rios outs. Unfortunately for Parsons, a 9d fell on the river giving Rios a bigger full house. Parsons took home $22,880 for her seventh place finish.

Despite her winning ways, Rios was eliminated in sixth place courtesy of Hamilton. Rios bet 100,000 after seeing the Kd-8h-4c flop. Hamilton raised to 350,000 and Rios countered by going all-in. Hamilton called with Pocket Fours after hitting a set and Rios only had Kc-Jd for top pair. The turn and river was of no help to Rios and she had to settle for $29,121.

Kimberly Cunningham was a desperate short-stack when she shoved with 51,000 with Pocket Sixes. Angel Pedroza called with 10c-7d but hit a pair on the Kc-10h-9c flop. Cunninghan didn’t improve and she settled for $38,719 for fifth place. Unfortunately for Pedroza, a confrontation with Hamilton hurt her stack and with half of her chips already in Big Blind, she called Mari Lou Morelli’s all-in from the button for the rest of her chips with 5h-3c. Morelli had Ac-10c. The board ran 3s-Ah-2h-7s-Ah. Pedroza took home $195,390 for fourth place.

Morelli was next to go courtesy of Lori Bender after she raised to 75,000 and was called. Bender bet 125,000 on the 8c-Kc-10h flop and Morelli pushed for 185,000. Bender called with 9c-8h versus Morelli’s Qc-10s. The 7s at the turn helped no one but the 9s at the river gave Bender two pair leaving Morelli with $78,132 for her third-place finish.

With over a 2 to 1 chip lead going into heads up play, it didn’t take long for Hamilton to dispose of her final competition. In the last hand, Hamilton bet 100,000 on a Jc-3s-8c flop after Bender checked. Bender made the call to see the 4s on the turn. Bender checked again and Hamilton bet 300,000. Bender moved all-in with the rest of her chips and was called by Hamilton who was holding Qs-8s for 2nd pair. Bender had the same pair with 8h-9s but had the worst kicker. The river was of no help and Bender received $120,575 for second place.
