First Woman WSOP Main Event Package Winner

(Edited from Press Release) Four months to the day after joining online poker site, Poker.com, Sheila Chandler (32), a pharmacy manager from Jacksonville Florida has made World Series of Poker history, as the first woman to win her way to the No Limit Texas Hold’em Main Event.

“We have a growing base of female players at Poker.com. Just as we’ve seen in live tournaments across the globe, more and more women are getting involved and making a difference.” Paul Cherry, Poker.com Tournament Director.

After playing poker mostly on trips to Vegas for the last 6 years, ‘MsRounders’ (her online name) took up online poker a couple of years ago, mostly playing low buy in tournament games. She joins a growing number of women taking a greater interest in tournament poker.

Not only has MsRounders won the opportunity to rub shoulders with the world’s best players, but she has managed to achieve this chance of a lifetime for the total cost of $1. After winning a $1 qualifier to get into the quarterfinals, MsRounders showed a clean set of heels, placing second in the quarter and semi finals before winning her grand final.

“For just $1, Sheila has won a package worth $12,500 and now has a shot at a prize pool of around $80 million,” Cherry said.
