After months of waiting and online poker qualifying tournaments, the 2006 World Series of Poker (WSOP) finally kicks off at Harrah’s Rio All-Suite hotel in Las Vegas. This most important poker event will run from June 25 through August 10, 2006.
This year some 10,000 players are expected to arrive at the Rio All-Suite Hotel for the tournament and an estimated $10 million will go to this year’s Main Event winner. This means every one lucky enough to make the final table will instantly become a millionaire. Add to that the new series of WSOP bracelets in 14-karat gold imbedded with diamonds and other precious jewels.
The WSOP championship will have more than 40 tournaments, including the highly popular $1500 No Limit Texas Hold’em event. It all wraps up with the $10,000 No Limit Texas Hold’em World Championship Event’s finale on August 10th when we will find out the 2006 WSOP Champion.
Joe Hachem, last year’s winner will return to defend his crown against other past winners Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer, the top poker pros that include Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Chris Ferguson, Annie Duke, Jen Harman and hundreds more.
Another exciting event that everyone will focus on is the $50K H.O.R.S.E. tournament. The mixed game event should draw around 150 players and each one of them will be prime time names that everyone will recognize.
The field will have the many satellite qualifiers who won free WSOP seats from online poker rooms. So although the proker pros will undoubtedly make some noise, the online poker players will hold their own against the big-name poker stars. Recent history tells us we cannot count out the amateur players in the World Series of Poker.
[If you want to join the excitement without spending a dime, there’s still time for you to win a completely free Main Event seat through Full Tilt Poker’s $1 Million WSOP Main Event Giveaway. You can also win your way into the WSOP by entering one of Full Tilt’s many other WSOP Main Event Seat Qualifiers and the WSOP $50K HORSE qualifier, which takes off this Saturday, July 1!]
