Phil Ivey Makes the ‘Hot List”

Black Enterprise, a leading magazine for African Americans, recently included Phil Ivey in their Hot List: America’s Most Powerful Players Under 40. The list also named Tiger Woods, Halle Berry, Tyra Banks, and Will Smith.

Ivey is fresh from winning the 2005 Monte Carlo Millions poker championship, he bested some of the top poker players from around the world.

Black Enterprise has been around since 1970, it provides business information and advice to approximately 3.8 million readers and is very much a part of the fabric of the business world. A look at the list of the "major players" under 40 years old is a fascinating glimpse at the diversity of the business world today.

The list also included influential voices as Sam Martin, the Vice President of HBO Films and Njema Frazier, a physicist with the National Nuclear Security Administration.

This accomplishment for Ivey also indicates that no one can deny the phenomenal success of poker anymore, with purses reaching millions and television networks scampering to get a piece of the market share. Ivey is also a five-time gold bracelet winner at the World Series of Poker.

This Black Enterprise issue is now out on the newsstands.
